(TRADE) – McCluskey and Kini South Shore

The Fredericton Red Wings are pleased to announce the acquisition of Defencemen Connor McCluskey, and Goaltender Morgan Kini, from the South Shore Lumberjacks in trade for the Red Wings first round pick at the 2020 MHL draft. The Red Wings will also receive South Shore’s 2020- 3rdround pick in exchange for Fredericton’s 4thround draft pick.

Connor McCluskey

Connor McCluskey is a Grand-Bay Westfield native, and was drafted in 2017 by the Moncton Wildcats as the 12thround pick.  McCluskey, who has played the past two seasons with the Lumberjacks, has accumulated 30 points in 98 career games. McCluskey (5’10, 180lbs) is a smooth skating skilled two-way defenceman who will play a key role in the Red Wings lineup.

“Connor is a key addition to our hockey team. His mobility as a defenceman will bring added speed to our group,” says Red Wings scout Time Schurman. McCluskey’s Skating ability and puck moving skills will be a key addition to the Red Wings transition game.

Morgan Kini

Morgan Kini, from Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, has played the last two seasons with the Lumberjacks starting in 49 career games.

Kini backstopped an experienced Lumberjacks team this past season. Posting a 3.18 GAA and .899 SVS% in 33 starts. Kini, 6’10 170lbs, has proven experience in the Maritime Hockey League.

When speaking with Red Wings Head Coach Brian Casey he has this to say, “(Kini) is a great addition to our team and will bring some stability in goal. He is experienced in our league which will serve our organization very well.”
