Red Wings Acquire Declan MacEachern from the Capitals

Red Wings Trade Acquisition

The Fredericton Junior Red Wings of the Maritime Junior Hockey League announce the first trade in team history. The Red Wings acquire 6-foot, 170 lb, 2001 born, centerman Declan MacEachern and a conditional 4th round pick in 2020 from the Summerside Western Capitals, for a 3rd round pick and a 7th round pick in 2019.  MacEachern is a native of Charlottetown PEI, playing this past season with the Charlottetown Pride of the Major Midget league, accumulating 24 points in just 16 games. Declan is a former member of the 2001 V Red Prospects Program. Declan will join the team and attend University in Fredericton this fall.

Declan was drafted to the QMJHL by the Rimouski Oceanic in 2017 in Saint John NB in the 6th round. GM Brent Grant says “we are fortunate to have our first trade completed prior to the upcoming MHL Draft in Edmundston June 15th. This will allow us to concentrate on filling other holes up front, adding Declan was a nice piece of the puzzle. We look forward to Declan joining our team in August, and bringing us three great years of hockey”

MacEachern Says “ I am really excited to get started, to be traded to a new organization and new team like Fredericton, it is such a great city, and I know the organization will be a first-class organization in the Junior league. Very happy to get the news and get things going! “

The Red Wings still hold 7 of the first 30 picks in the upcoming 2019 Draft.
