The Fredericton Red Wings are pleased to announce the addition of Craig Eagles to their scouting staff. Eagles currently works for the QMJHL Central Scouting Department as the Regional Scout for New Brunswick; he’s held that position since the mid-way point of 2016-2017 season. Eagles has also spent the last four seasons with the Campbellton Tigers working for their scouting staff.
“It’s an honour to be joining the Red Wings organization, having spent my University days in Fredericton, I was thrilled to see the return of Junior Hockey to the City,” said Eagles.
On top of being a high school teacher and scout Eagles has been broadcasting hockey on Rogers TV since 2009 and has been a colour analyst for the QMJHL on Rogers for the past six seasons covering the Moncton Wildcats and Saint John Sea Dogs.
Red Wings head scout, Tim Schurman had this to say about Eagles.
“We are very excited to be able to add a quality person like Craig to our staff. Anyone that has read his work will be able to recognize his passion for the game and for the MHL. Craig has his finger on the pulse of maritime hockey and his contributions will be invaluable.”
He started writing about the game in 2012 and currently writes prospect articles for the QMJHL. You can also find his own freelance work regarding the game on the FDS Podcast Network.
“There’s a great crop of young draft eligible prospects coming up through the ranks here in the Maritimes. I’m excited to evaluate, assess and project their future performance while helping the organization anyway I can.”
